Tickets are now on sale for Treasures: Adventures in Archaeology, an exhibition showcasing memorabilia from popular culture and famous adventure movies such as Indiana Jones alongside genuine archaeological finds.
Taking place at National Museum Cardiff, the exhibition will be one of the first events in Wales’ Year of Adventure calendar and will have crystal skulls, Inca gold and Egyptian mummies on show, as well as the hat, whip and jacket of Indiana Jones.
Visitors will also learn about the stories behind archaeological discoveries from Egypt, Greece, Rome, Pre-Columbian America and Rapa Nui (Easter Island).
It will feature objects and treasures from ancient worlds as well as more recent examples of archaeological finds uncovered in Wales.
These will include an Egyptian mummy, Roman treasures, human skulls from Viking-age burials at Llandbedrgoch, Anglesey and a 19th century crystal skull from Musée Musee du Quai Branly, Paris.
Archaeological investigations from Giovanni Belzoni – an Italian explorer and pioneer archaeologist of Egyptian antiquities will be also be on show.
Plus, visitors will learn about investigations from Egyptologist Flinders Petrie and archaeological artists and explorer Adela Breton.
