Exhibitors at the annual Group Leisure & Travel Show have been contacted by the event’s organisers with a warning about bogus emails that claim to provide access to an attendees list.
The emails, which have been sent out this week, offer recipients the database at a cost. YPL Exhibitions & Events has confirmed that the emails in question are nothing to do with the exhibition, taking place on Thursday 11th October in Hall 19 at Birmingham’s NEC, and are completely incorrect.
YPL has also said the visitor database for the show is never released under any circumstances and remains secure and confidential. It is also copyright and subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act.
Show director Graham Yandell has warned exhibitors of the emails and said: “The annual show, being held at the NEC, Birmingham, on 11th October, is highly professional and we never release visitor information to anyone. Anyone who receives such correspondence by email should not be fooled and is advised to report it as spam.”
He continued: “Unfortunately these emails are not unique to our show and it’s very sad that there are people out there who are prepared to extract money in this way.”
It comes after a similar warning last year following emails sent out, also offering access to the show’s database.
Should anyone visiting or exhibiting at the GLT Show on 11th October require any further help or information they should contact exhibition organiser Emma Cash on emma.c@yandellmedia.com
