Renishaw Hall and Gardens in Derbyshire will be offering public tours, a festive menu in its new café, and winter garden walks this Christmas.
The festive season at Renishaw Hall will run from 1st to 11th December, open daily to the public between 10.30am and 4pm each day.
Discover Renishaw, inside and out
Renishaw Hall is a family home to the Sitwells, and has been for nearly 400 years. A guided tour of the hall will allow groups to see some of the collections of art and furniture that have been acquired by generations of Sitwells.
Public tours of the hall, which will be traditionally dressed for Christmas, will be available between Thursdays and Sundays at 1pm and 2.30pm throughout the Christmas period; pre-booking is essential.
Private group tours of the hall are also available, and again need to be pre-booked. These tours can cater for up to 50 people.
Those taking a winter walk through the gardens can enjoy statues, areas that have been divided into ‘rooms’ with different floral themes, a lake, English herbaceous borders and ornamental ponds.
Festive fare and Christmas shopping
A full seasonal menu will also be on offer in the newly refurbished café at Renishaw Hall, with a range of warming meals and festive treats to enjoy. A private dining area is available for group bookings and Christmas parties.
The on-site gift shop, Kindred & Kind, will be selling a range of Christmas gifts and the visitor centre offers Renishaw Hall’s own award-winning wines, plus books and mementos of the hall and gardens to buy.
Owner of Renishaw Hall and Gardens, Alexandra Sitwell said: “I look forward to welcoming visitors to Renishaw this Christmas time, to enjoy tours of the hall and gardens. Winter walks will reveal much of the wider landscape beyond the gardens, and our informative guides will take visitors through the rooms of the house as they are decorated for a traditional family Christmas.”
Group travel organisers should call 01246-432310 for Christmas booking enquiries.
