The original front door from the Apple Corps Headquarters at 3 Savile Row, London, where The Beatles played their last ever gig.

We’re inviting you to discover the ultimate history of British rock and pop at the British Music Experience, with more than 600 artefacts on display in Liverpool’s iconic Cunard Building.

Applications for this free Reader Club familiarisation visit are now open to those who want to learn more about the venue and sample it before taking their own group.

From The Beatles and Freddie Mercury to the Spice Girls, Amy Winehouse and Adele, the British Music Experience boasts an unrivalled collection of memorabilia, stage outfits, instruments, images and footage for groups to uncover.

Itinerary

Trip date: Monday 9th June 2025

11am: Arrival at the British Music Experience with tea and coffee.

11.30am: An exclusive welcome from the team and introductory talk.

11.45am: A guided tour of the museum.

12.45pm: Lunch from the Star Café & Bar.

1.30pm: Free time to explore the museum (audio guides can be used on a smartphone with headphones) which includes the Gibson Interactive Studio, Dance the Decades and Vocal Booth.

2.30pm: End the day with a music picture quiz.

3pm: Departures.

What to expect on the day?

The museum charts the beginnings, rise and influence of British pop from 1945 to the present day. Join us on this fam trip on 9th June and you will see outfits worn by artists like Dusty Springfield and Adam Ant, along with musical instruments played by some of the world’s most renowned artists, from Queen’s Roger Taylor to the Sex Pistols.

There is even handwritten song lyrics from Adele, the original statues from the Brits and the Apple Corp front door from Saville Row in London.

See costumes and memorabilia from across the decades.

The museum includes galleries, interactive zones, audio visual experiences and hologram performances. You can get hands-on in the Gibson Interactive Studio by learning to play guitar, drums or keyboards, dance your way through the eras in the Dance the Decades studio and sing your heart out in the Vocal Booth. 

Gibson Interactive Studio

This fully interactive part of the British Music Experience gives you the chance to learn and play on a whole range of amazing instruments.

Gibson and Epiphone guitars have had a huge influence on British pop music, helping to shape the sound of a nation. Here, readers will find electric, acoustic and bass guitars, including Les Pauls, SGs and 335s as well as Roland drums, synthesisers and keyboards. Regardless of your age or ability, the Gibson zone allows you to learn songs through video lessons.

Create your own sounds in the Gibson Interactive Studio.

Dance the Decades

This interactive experience brings together 70 years and 12 iconic dance styles in one spacious booth. A virtual teacher is on-hand to teach you all the moves that ruled the dance floors of the past and then you can strut your stuff and try it out for yourself.

For the real extroverts, who love to show off their skill, there is a handy phone holder, so you can film yourself tearing it up.

Vocal Booth

Get your voice studio ready in a professional vocal booth, with a selection of songs from over 20 British genres as a professional vocal coach guides you in a range of techniques to get the best out of your voice. You can even record your performance on your phone.
