Together with Visit Hull & East Yorkshire, we’re inviting readers to join us on a familiarisation trip in May to an area that continues to evolve, offering glitzy entertainment, fascinating culture and more than a few surprises.
This Group Leisure & Travel Reader Club trip will take place over three days from Sunday 19th to Tuesday 21st May and will include a jam-packed schedule of cultural and entertaining activities.
The visit will also include two nights stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Hull’s premier 4-star hotel located in the heart of this historic maritime city.
This familiarisation trip costs £25pp and includes…
- Hotel accommodation and meals where indicated.
- Guided tours of Hull and Beverley.
- Matinee performance of Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals Tour.
A matinee performance of Strictly Come Dancing – The Professionals 2019 will kick things off at The Bonus Arena on the Sunday, which is an impressive state-of-the-art, music and events complex. With a wide variety of events, shows and concerts, you will see why you should bring a group.
The second day will allow readers to journey back 235 million years at the Museums Quarter in Hull’s Old Town to encounter sea monsters, Romans and a life-sized woolly mammoth at the Hull and East Riding Museum of Archaeology.
You’ll get to visit The Streetlife Museum of Transport which brings history to life with all the sights, sounds and smells of the past, before heading to the birthplace of William Wilberforce at Wilberforce House.
Next, uncover Hull’s history with a guided tour of Hull Minster, which dates back to the late 13th century when Edward I granted the former settlement of Wyke a Royal Charter and re-named it Kings Town upon Hull.
Discover the Ferens Art Gallery too, with its collection of paintings and sculptures, including works by European Old Masters, portraiture, marine painting, and modern and contemporary British art. Following this will be an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the home of iconic British theatre company Hull Truck at the Hull Truck Theatre, where you’ll also enjoy dinner.
On day three you’ll take a trip to the Medieval market town of Beverley, with its charming streets and quaint courtyards, and the 15th century North Bar which divides impressive Georgian streets containing a great number of listed buildings. On the agenda for day three will also be a visit to Beverley Minster (pictured above), a guided tour of the town and some free time to do some shopping.
